Mount Emerald Wind Farm is a wind power station currently under construction on Mount Emerald approximately half way between Mareeba and Atherton and 5 kms from the township of Walkamin.
Once completed, Mount Emerald Wind Farm will include 53 wind turbines generating up to 180.5 MW of power.
Mount Emerald has always been a favourite sunset photo opportunity and now with the construction well underway, the wind turbines certainly are impressive in front of the sunset skies of the Atherton Tablelands.
Best viewed at dusk, from the Kennedy Highway, Walkamin.
